The school operated from 1922 to 1967. In 1998, the building was restored to its original appearance and, in July 2005, it opened as a state historic site. Later that year, however, floods damaged Nevada State Route 317, restricting access to the site. It has been indefinitely closed to the public as of 2008. The park features half of the school's original furnishings while other items are authentic to the time period. The park is managed by Kershaw–Ryan State Park.
